Rolex - Rolex Datejust 1601 "No-lume Wideboy" - Box & Papers
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most significant models in the history of watchmaking. First introduced in 1945, it was the first self-winding wristwatch to display the date on the dial. This four digit ref. 1601, circa '72 is a cut above the usual examples we look for due to its rare and non-luminous "WideBoy" dial/hands. Additionally, this piece still retains its punched warranty papers, inner and outer boxes as well as two Rolex booklets, making it even more of a seldom seen find in this era of production. Luckily it has remained in excellent vintage condition with a mint dial/hands and thick case with sharp edges. The bracelet was rebuilt at some point so it feels nice and tight and will fit an approximate 7.25 inch wrist. We love the monochromatic look of these piece for their ability to fit into almost any occasion and if you're looking for a special vintage Datejust this could be just the ticket.
Dial: Fantastic with no blemishes to note of under magnification.
Bezel: Is sharp with no distracting blemishes. Hands: Are matching and well-preserved.
Case: Thick and even lugs with sharp edges. Light signs of use. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Has been rebuilt and remains tight. Will fit an approximate 7.25 inch wrist.
Crystal: Clear. The date window could use a light polish but clear otherwise.
Accessories: Inner and outer boxes, punched warranty papers and two booklets.
The movement is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
