Rolex - Rolex Datejust ref. 6611 "Amtlich geprüft"

The Rolex Day-Date Ref. 6611 “Amtlich Geprüft” is one of the earliest and most refined executions of the Day-Date, launched in 1956. Powered by the advanced Calibre 1055 with a free-sprung balance and microstella regulation, it was Rolex’s first Day-Date movement certified as a superlative chronometer.

This rare variant features the German-language dial text “Superlativer Chronometer Amtlich Geprüft”, found only on early examples destined for German-speaking markets. It’s a subtle but significant detail that highlights the transitional nature of Rolex’s mid-century global expansion. With its classic 36mm yellow gold case, fluted bezel, and pie-pan dial, the 6611 blends early technical innovation with elegant design. Produced for just a few years, and rarely seen with this unique dial configuration, the “Amtlich Geprüft” version stands out as a historically rich and highly collectible early Day-Date.

This very version is well worn but overall in a lovely state, with especially the dial being very well preserved for its age!
