Oversized

Rolex is known for their iconic Oyster cases from early on but every now and then we also find 'Calatrava' style cases. The Cellini line covers most of these which were predominantly produced from the 70s and 80s but we see dress watches already from the 1930s. What all of these have in common is that the average case size does almost never exceed 34mm.

Now this is where this watch becomes interesting. We have here a very rare Dress watch from the 1950s, the reference 3675 in stainless steel measuring astounding 38mm. There are only a handful of Rolex Calatravas that meet this size we believe which was a true oversize at the time where 32-34mm watches were dominating the market.

The beautiful two tone Silver dial is well preserved for its age showing only minimal wear to the naked eye. The Arabic numeral hour indexes seem to be printed in black enamel which is still crisp and fully present. The dial print itself is crisp and feels minimalistic on the very large dial that takes almost the entire front of the case.

Watches like these are outliers from the norm and are very rare. The popularity for these large Calatravas is huge and there are not many of these around for sale. A great opportunity to acquire one of these non-typical Rolex watches with a big big wrist presence.

Case: Very nice and large vintage condition case not showing much wear from age. The very fine bezel is free of any major dents or dings. The backside of the lugs are showing some pitting from age. Case numbers on the case back are present and fully intact.
Bracelet/Strap: Generic Calf strap and buckle
Dial: Very good Silver two tone dial with Arabic numeral indexes and outer minute track. The print is crisp and fully present. Blued hands. The dial is very clean and only shows minimal wear to the naked eye.
