Rolex - Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1002 w/ Breguet Numerals - Exceptionally Rare/*Unpolished*

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual remains one of the brands most refined and "no frills" designs to this day. Going back several decades, the ref. 1002 is without a doubt one of Rolex' most beautiful, yet simple creations. Anyone with an average sized wrist will find that the 34mm vintage case on this reference is as elegant on bracelet as it is on a strap.

This example, circa 1976 houses a highly unusual and beautiful dial with printed Breguet numerals, making it one of the rarest and most desirable Oyster Perpetuals ever to come to market. We have only seen two other examples of this dial variant, one of which was with one of the top vintage Rolex collectors and dealers in Hong Kong. This rarity of this piece makes it truly special and we believe the Breguet dial helps it straddle the world of dress and sport perfectly. On the condition front, the dial has remained in fantastic shape with custard colored lume plots, housed in a sharp and unpolished case. The bracelet is slightly later but remains extremely tight. We couldn't be more thrilled to offer this special piece of Rolex history that we know is unlikely we'll see ever again.

Dial: Extremely well-preserved with no distracting blemishes under under magnification. All of the tritium plots have taken on a gorgeous custard patina. Bezel: Very sharp and appears unpolished. Hands: Are matching. All of their lume is stable. Case: Very sharp and appears unpolished. Normal wear consistent with age. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Is a later example, circa '84 so it was likely swapped in. It is the right fit however and is extremely tight and fully linked. Crystal: Clear. The movement was just professionally overhauled. It is running well on our timegrapher and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
