Rolex - Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1002 w/ “Explorer No Lume Dial" - Very Rare / *Unpolished*
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual remains one of the brands most refined and "no frills" designs to this day. Going back several decades, the ref. 1002 is without a doubt one of Rolex' most beautiful, yet simple creations. Anyone with an average sized wrist will find that the 34mm vintage case on this reference is an elegant on bracelet as it is on a strap.
This example, circa 1964 houses a very seldom seen dial with "Explorer" layout, featuring the iconic 3, 6, and 9 Arabic numerals. The dial/hands are also non-luminous with a beautiful pointed configuration. Remaining in fantastic vintage condition, this special piece displays a nicely preserved dial, unpolished case and gorgeous stretch rivet bracelet. For the discerning collector, we really believe the charm of these older Oyster Perpetuals are tough to beat and could not be more proud to offer this top example in the shop!
Dial: Displays light patina that's evenly spread. There are a couple of very small age spots visible in photography, particularly at 8 o-clock and 3 o-clock but they aren't distracting to the naked eye. Overall fantastic preservation.
Bezel: Very sharp and appears unpolished.
Hands: Are matching.
Case: Very sharp and appears unpolished. Normal wear consistent with age. Correct signed crown. Bracelet: Is a stretch rivet variant in phenomenal condition for its age. No visible stretch and working properly.
Crystal: Clear.
