Rolex - Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback with Blue Enamel Dial Ref. 6332, 1954
The magic of enamel dials
A type of dial that is able to hypnotize one with its deep, rich and translucent color as mentioned by @le_monde_edmond in his beautifully written article about enamel dials, I quote “ the color itself becomes the centre point of the dial ”
Enamel dials were introduced in the early 1950s and produced in very little numbers only, so little that one literally has to wait until one comes up for sale, seriously. Incredibly rare and beautiful, most of them were cased in precious metals but some made it into stainless steel cases.
This automatic reference 6332 in stainless steel measures 34mm and is an absolute spectacular example of an Enamel dial watch. The silver dial has an ‘Enamel ring’ covering the hour indexes and numerals, a very beautiful way of highlighting these and adding a vivid sky blue color to the game.
The case is fantastic, with 34mm this goes into the category of large cases for its time and the best thing is that this 6332 is a Bubbleback reference, meaning that the case back is showing the very massive round shape. The case is sharp, well defined and shows well- proportioned dimensions.
An absolute phenomenal watch in beautiful condition and configuration, oh and we couldn’t think of a better bracelet than a straight end link stretch bracelet from the period.
This watch is astounding 70 years old. Absolute fantastic.
