Offered from my personal collection, a unique and special exmaple of a Rolex Air King Super Precision ref. 5500 from 1960, with a crazily beautiful, peach toned tropical dial.

The actor Ryan Gosling famously has one the same which he was pictured wearing at the Golden Globes Ceremony in 2019.
Interestingly, this Air King was exclusively made for the Commonwealth market - we can tell this by the distinctive hour markers and its accompanying Made In USA oval link Jubilee bracelet. (Used on export models distributed within the North America region at the time).

I believe this watch was most probably originally delivered to the Caribbean, due to way the tropical patina has developed on the dial over time under the hot sun and humid climate.

Moreover, I have only ever come across one exactly like it and that was showcased by the legendary Rolex retailer, John Bull of the Bahamas - hence my thoughts!

If you've never heard of them, then I strongly suggest that you check out pictures of the unique hand carved, hammered effect finishes which they used to apply to Rolex's upon request in the 70's and 80's - carried out by their master watch maker, Gunter Miethe - very cool craftsmanship.
