Audemars Piguet - Royal Oak ref. 14332BA 18k Mid-Size

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the mid-size Royal Oak references that AP offered throughout the 80s and 90s. What we have here is one of the more uncommon references in the mid-size catalogue; the 14332BA. It is said that less than 300 of these were produced in 18k. This particular piece is the grey “anthracite” dial variant. I love these dials. It somehow tones down the whole look of the watch and makes wearing a solid chunk of 18k yellow gold more casual.

This example is in spectacular condition. The watch was serviced by AP in the not so distant past and the crown and movement were updated. The bracelet is very tight and shows no stretch, it will fit up to a 7 ¾ inch wrist. The watch is accompanied by an extract from the archives confirming delivery of the watch to the 19th of January, 1984. There is an inscription on the back of the watch that reads Princeton Class of ‘86. If you could pick 1 watch to epitomize the Ivy Leauge in the 1980s this might be it. It doesn’t get much better than this.
