Introduced as part of Universal Genève’s professional chronograph line, the Space Compax was produced in two distinct dial configurations. The first generation displays a reverse panda layout with a prominent “Big 12” numeral, while the second — the Mk2 — features a striking “all-black” dial with straight luminous hour markers framed by crisp white U-shaped surrounds.

Blending space-age design with genuine underwater capability, the Space Compax was even shortlisted for NASA’s qualification tests alongside the legendary Omega Speedmaster.

Its rubber-sealed waterproof pushers were a remarkable technical innovation of the time, ensuring reliability even under the most demanding conditions.

The example presented here is exceptionally well preserved, retaining its original signed plexiglass. Completing the ensemble, it is fitted with its period-correct Gays Frères Sport bracelet featuring a locking clasp and patented extension link — an ingenious detail designed for use over a diving suit.

The caliber 85, Valjoux 72 based, is freshly serviced and beating strong.
