Movado - 1950’s Movado Automatic Türler Signed Ref. 16140
This Movado automatic in the “Tempomatic” style features a wonderfully patinated dial, co-signed by now defunct retailer Türler.
The patina on the dial may be radium burns, but is evenly distributed making the dial appear like the top layer of a cappuccino.
The sharp, gold capped case made by renowned case maker Francois Borgel. The case made of steel, has a thick layer of gold atop the faceted lugs and stepped bezel. This example has the thickest of the “gold caps” easily noted from the sides of the unpolished lugs. For a watch originally intended as waterproof it is in remarkable conditions for its age and features its original and distinctive gold-tone crown.
The FB case houses a Movado Cal. 221A bumper automatic movement keeping good time although not serviced.
With a crisp seemingly untouched case, patinated double signed dial, and bumper automatic movement it makes for a great example of 50’s movado excellence.
