Universal Geneve - Universal Geneve - Calatrava from 1960
If I were to describe the perfect vintage dress watch, it would look very similar to this one. There is something special about a stainless steel-cased watch. Even though it is a dress watch, it has a solid feel—especially when you find unpolished cases like this one. It’s amazing to be able to appreciate the original shape.
In my opinion, this one has the ideal features: a manual-winding movement, a clean time-only dial with dauphine hands, and a long seconds hand that complements the space on the dial.
The lugs curve beautifully, and the length wraps the wrist perfectly at 41mm. Overall, this is a very attractive design by Universal Genève, demonstrating that some of the best vintage watches feature simple yet elegant designs.
