The Compax series of chronographs, launched in 1936, is a well-known and iconic model from Universal Genève's history. It includes various variations like Aero-Compax, Uni-Compax, Tri-Compax, and Dato-Compax. These chronographs were offered in various configurations and case metals, with stainless steel cases being considered "tool watches" during this era, while gold cases were more formal. The Compax line was popular at lower prices compared to other chronographs, such as those sold by Henri Stern in New York. The Dato-Compax is considered one of the least produced UGs from this era, and collectors believe customers who desired a calendar-enabled chronograph would have likely opted for the Tri-Compax for a few extra dollars in steel.
