Universal Geneve - Rare Tank | Mellerio Style Case | Cornes de Vache Lug
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of horological history, Universal Genève has returned; a name once whispered with reverence now poised to reclaim its place in the pantheon of watchmaking
Amongst its many hallmarks is this uber rare Universal Geneve tank watch from the 1950s, adorned with horned lugs and what could be an art-deco Mellerio case that is entirely sculpted by hand.
Mellerio dits Meller, the world’s oldest family-owned jewelry house, is no stranger to crafting objects of desire. Founded in 1613, its ateliers have adorned royalty and artists alike, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with names like Cartier and Boucheron.
The horned lugs are sharp and sculptural, transforming the rectangular tank silhouette into something almost celestial. Showcased in excellent condition with the rare rose gold spun dial this capped Mellerio-style cased icon is super rare and very investable given UG’s resurgence.
