Universal Geneve - Universal Geneve Skeleton | Rare | 18k Gold | Limited Edition
Commissioned by the International Museum of Horology, this Universal Geneve was an icon from the 1980s, a collaboration with the esteemed Franklin Mint. Though the museum stated that up to 3000 were made, truth whispered of much less than half that number, with each piece unique, skeletonised and crafted entirely by hand.
One of the hallmarks of the classic watchmaking art, skeletonisation has long been a showcase of artisanal skill since the 18th century when it was invented by the famous Abraham-Louis Breguet. Today, only a small number of watchmakers still possesses the necessary skill for such intricate precision work; one reason why Le Musee International d'Horlogerie decided to showcase this in its permanent collection.
