Vulcain - Vulcain Cricket "Waterprotected" Alarm w/ Gorgeous Patina Dial - *Unpolished*
The Swiss luxury watchmaker Vulcain was founded in 1858 and is arguably the brand to own when it comes to alarm pieces. They have a rich history and are best known today for their connection to U.S. presidents. In 1948 President Harry S. Truman was gifted a “Cricket” alarm by the White House Press Photographers Association, which he wore regularly. Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson Dwight D. Eisenhower were also known to love the alarm watch’s practically. Johnson so much so that he gave away 200 of them as gifts. This incredible story carried into modern times with President Obama being given one post inauguration.
This particular Cricket features a silver sunburst dial that has taken on a stunning patina. There are speckles of patina that are very evenly scattered as well as a warmth to the dial that adds to its luster. Aside from that, the case has remained in wonderful unpolished condition. This is a true collector grade Cricket that will leave collectors of any level swooning.
Dial: Beautifully aged radium plots that have taken on a custard patina. They are all present. The dial has taken on a stunning overall patina that's even and warm.
Hands: Are matching. All of their lume is stabile. Case: Appears unpolished with very sharp original chamfers. Etchings on back are still deep and clearly visible. Correct pusher and signed crown. Crystal: Some normal signs of use with light scratches on the edges. No cracks or chips. Accessories: Two piece handmade suede strap in beige.
All functions of the watch operate flawlessly. The movement is running well on our time graphed and comes with our 1-year mechanical warranty.
